Improving village life, whilst maintaining the character, appearance and beauty of Linton

This is your association

The Linton Residents Association (LRA) is here to:

  • Improve communications and connectivity with residents.

  • Facilitate closer cooperation across village teams and groups.

  • Identify and support projects to protect, enhance, and improve our beautiful village.

The LRA is run by a team of volunteers chaired by Jill Bolton. It has representation from village residents, the Memorial Hall Management Committee, Collingham with Linton Parish Council, the Village Fundraisers, and our village Tennis Club. You can find out more about the LRA team here.

There is no membership fee, and all village residents over 18 are eligible to join the LRA and can participate as much as they want. Please sign up for our mailing list to register your cost-free membership and to stay informed.

Our constitution

Our latest constitution was agreed at the May 2024 Annual Meeting. One key change made was our new name — Linton Residents Association — replacing the previous Linton Village Society. All part of our endeavours to make the association more inclusive and relevant to village residents.

FAQs

  • No. All village residents over 18 are eligible to participate as LRA members by default and at no cost, although, we do prefer residents to register their interest and membership by joining our mailing lists (click here).

Currently, fundraising events are used to support the costs of the LRA and village projects.

In the past, the previous Linton Village Society had a voluntary fee of £35 per household pa. If further LRA funds were needed, we might consider this again in the future but would consult first with village residents.

  • An Annual General Meeting open to all members is held in the Memorial Hall, usually in spring. This typically starts with an informal social gathering, eg cheese and wine.

There may also be ad hoc or extraordinary meetings to deal with specific issues (eg substantial planning applications) or new village improvement initiatives.

Resident groups and parties working on specific projects will also meet as required.

Make sure you are registered on the LRA mailing list to keep up-to-date on relevant meeting dates — you can sign up here.

  • In the past, we have been involved in many issues related to our aims, including:

    • Planning: objections and appeals and meetings with developers.

    • Traffic: related to speed and volume.

    • Highways: related to road repairs and liaison with the responsible authorities

    • Noise and pollution: related to the A1 upgrade.

    • Tree Preservation Orders

    • Liaising with the Parish Council, including the Parish Plan, Village Design Statement, and our Neighbourhood Plan.

    • Liaison and assistance to and from our Ward Councillors and our MP.
